The Opal Legbar is a recently developed color variety bred from the Cream Legbar and like other Legbars, they are autosexing and sport a crest. The Opal color is lavendar and a blue breed, actually a barred lavender. Males are barred with golden highlights while females are pearl gray with either silver barring or light straw yellow accents around their necks. The lavender plumage gene that causes the lighter color is recessive, and it requires extra care in order to keep the feathers of the birds healthy.
